Realizing that every new K-9 team once it hits the road is in need of the basic maintenance training program. PSP international is now offering the following training program.

Program

One ten hour training block per month Emphasis on problem solving, re-enforcing the minimal apprehension techniques in all aspects of patrol work. Professional trained decoys to assist in bringing out the fullest potential of the K-9 team. Active participation in mock scenarios, with high emphasis on control and officer survival. Practical and theoretic work.

Monthly written evaluations submitted to K-9 director for each monthly session, based on our PSP qualification requirement / standards. Emphasis on all aspects of scent work, tracking, article search, specialty teams. Assistance with K-9 demonstrations. Educational seminars in the deployment of Police service dogs for supervisors or administrative level. Yearly re-certification Participate in handler or K-9 selection.

Goals To maintain the highest level of performance in the deployment of the police service K-9 teams. Document and evaluate the proficiency of each team and their training. Maintain K-9 teams sharp and alert and working to their fullest potential. Availability upon request for problem solving or to answer questions pertaining to the deployment of Police service dogs
