EXERCISE No# 6

COURAGE TEST

Handler takes up his surveillance position. A suspect then appears at a distance of about 80 yards. The person is moving away at a running pace.

As soon as the dog has been alerted to the person, the handler call his departmental warning. The handler then sends his dog.

The dog must pursue the suspect as fast as possible to catch up with the fleeing suspect
When the Dog is about 40 paces from the suspect, he/she shall turn and charge at the Dog.

This is to test the Dog's Courage. Suspect shall charge towards the dog and yell, wave his/her arms, and throw small (harmless) objects at the Dog.

The Dog should disregard these actions and engage the person intensely.

When the Handler and suspect arrives at a distance of at least 10 paces, the Dog shall be commanded to assume a guarding position.

The Dog shall heel beside its Handler as he/she escorts the suspect to the evaluator for remanding. This is to exhibit full control.
